There are two accommodation teams looking after students at Queen Mary. Watch our short video below, which describes our teams and the services we provide for residents, then read on to find out more about the teams themselves.

The Housing Services team provides you with the guidance you need to ensure that you find suitable housing during your studies at Queen Mary. The team handle pre-arrival enquiries including halls applications and room allocations for both Queen Mary owned and nominated halls of residences. Information regarding application eligibility and room allocations can be found on our dedicated webpages.

The Housing Services team also manage all residential fee payments. The team provide advice on a range of financial enquiries, including 1:1 debt counselling sessions. We offer a range of payment plans from splitting your residential fees into termly instalments to align with Student Finance England payments, or monthly options depending on how you are financing your stay at University.

A comprehensive alternative housing advice service is available to all students and staff at Queen Mary. Our experienced team provide advice and guidance on all aspects of private renting and alternative housing options via our comprehensive range of resources. Whether you’re looking for a single room, self-contained studio or within a flat /house share with friends, Housing Services can help. We offer a free contract reading service, as well as advice and guidance on all aspects of renting in the private sector including information on when and where to look for accommodation, tenancy agreements and legal advice.

The Residential Services team look after you once you have moved into Queen Mary Halls and has three key areas you will interact with during your stay.

Follow three of our students in the video below, as they make the journey from home to halls and tell us about their moving-in weekend experience; and find out more about the Residential Services team in the information following.

Residential Life

The Residential Life team provides you with all you need to ensure your time in Queen Mary Halls is rewarding and productive. They offer support which enables you to live freely and ensures you stay connected as part of the Queen Mary community. From a Welcome Programme when you arrive, to events throughout the year, they are here to help you build relationships with other residents and to give you the opportunity to take part in activities which support your wellbeing.

The Residential Life team looks after the Residents’ Rewards Card programme which is exclusively for halls residents and offers bespoke wellbeing, cultural and pop up events on and offline, along with exclusive offers around campus. To ensure you are connected with everything going on, there is a dedicated newsletter (The Residents’ Roundup), an Instagram profile (@qmreslife) as well as the Residential Life website.

Residential Operations

The Residential Operations team is focused on giving you a comfortable and safe place to stay. They operate a 24-hour Reception which acts as your first point of contact for all matters relating to Queen Mary Halls, including support with maintenance and cleaning queries. This team also ensures you know when planned maintenance will take place within your hall on a named day and carries out regular checks on standards within kitchens and communal bathrooms.

Residential Welfare

The Residential Welfare team help you with adjusting to life in Queen Mary Halls; promoting wellbeing and offering support with both physical and mental health. They work closely with other Queen Mary support services such as Academic Support Officers, Advice and Counselling and the Disability and Dyslexia Service and assist with fast track referrals when needed. The team also help with the management of disciplinary matters in halls and provide mediation between flatmates if needed.
