 1. I am coming as a 1st Year undergraduate, should I wait for my A Level results to come out before I apply for accommodation?
No, you should apply as soon as possible; you will not be expected to accept your offer of housing until after you get your results.

 2. Is all College accommodation for 1st Years in the new Student Village?
No, we have a range of accommodation depending on your budget. Allocations are made accordingly.

 3. Can you help me to find private sector housing if I don't wish to live in College housing?
Yes, we have many years experience in helping students find suitable private accommodation. Our webpages contain a full set of guidance notes, there are up to date lists of available properties locally published on a weekly basis and we have a notice board outside the Residences Office where students and landlords advertise vacancies.

 4. Are any of the Queen Mary halls catered?
No, all the on-campus halls are self-catering. There are however many catering outlets on the campus or you can apply for one of the fully catered University of London Intercollegiate Halls of Residence.

 5. Can the Residences Office send me an application form for housing?
No, all information on how to apply for housing will be provided by the Admissions Office after you accept your place to study at QMUL.

 6. If I move into Halls and don't like it and want to move out, can I cancel my contract?
No, you will be required to sign a legally binding tenancy agreement from September until June (approx 38 weeks). We can only release you from your rent liability if we manage to re-let your room to another student.

 7. Is there parking on campus, if I want to bring my car?
There is no student parking at the halls.

 8. Will there be a phone in my room?
No, but there is a data-point for internet access.

 9. I am a Muslim girl, do you have any female only halls?
We allocate a number of single sex flats in the residences that share bathroom facilities. In our ensuite residences (where there are no shared bathrooms) all flats are mixed sex.

 10. A friend of mine is also coming to Queen Mary to study, can we share a room?
There are a limited number of twin rooms available, early application is strongly advisable.

 11. Will I be able to live in halls in my second year as well?
No, priority goes to first year applicants. All students can submit an application for vacancies that may occur mid term.

 12. Do I have to bring my own bed-linen, towels, crockery and cutlery, pots and pans?
Yes, however if you do not wish to bring these items with you, you can purchase any of these items via a company called All-Unied  where they will be delivered to your room for your arrival.

 13. Are pets allowed in halls of residence?
Under no circumstances are pets to be kept in bedrooms or any other part of the residence. Guide and hearing dogs are permitted to assist students with the relevant disability.
